Finally Found Freedom Returns Home

Finally Found Freedom, 67x74 inch Underground Railroad quilt by O.V. Brantley, 2021. Machine quilted by Maxine Moore.

Even though I was fortunate enough to have three quilts exhibited at the International Quilt Festival in Houston, I was most proud to share Finally Found Freedom. This quilt features what have become known as Underground Railroad blocks. It reflects part of my African American heritage by honoring the work of Harriet Tubman who led many slaves to freedom.

The International Quilt Festival was Finally Found Freedom’s public debut. I am not sure what is next for her, but I am sure she will not be satisfied to stay in the closet.
