Gallery Talk at Pattern and Paradox

Last week MY SPECIAL and I were invited to attend a special celebration of the exhibit Pattern and Paradox - The Quilts of Amish Women. The exhibit is showing at the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington, DC.

The 50 quilts in the exhibit were from the collection of Faith and Steve Brown, our hosts who had collected Amish quilts for many years. We enjoyed the quilts and the reception, but I particularly enjoyed the Gallery Talk. Faith and Steve shared stories from their journey that led to collecting over 130 Amish quilts and shared insights about various individual quilts. Clearly, they had learned a lot about the Amish community and Amish quilts.

If you are in the DC area, the exhibit is definitely worthy of your time and attention. If not, I thought I would share some of the many pictures I took of the exhibit and activities. Oh, and by the way, there is a book.
