My “Sunday Group” of quilters loves to issue challenges. The recent challenge was to turn a random block one of our members had purchased at Ten Thousand Villages and turn it into a quilt. Once the quilt was made, it was to be donated to the Atlanta Quilt Festival.
Life is a Beautiful Symphony is my response to the challenge. I felt immediately drawn to the colors in the block because as you know I love browns and taupes. Not surprisingly, I had the perfect fabric in my stash to complete my quilt. I chose the fabric for the color, but since it turned out to be a collection of symphony fabric, I named the quilt Life is a Beautiful Symphony.

The quilt is arranged in a traditional setting with the center block the focus of the quilt. The center block includes beautiful hand embroidery done by an unknown quilter. After adding borders, the quilt measures 40 X 41 inches. I quilted it on my Janome machine.
There is a hanging sleeve on the back for easy display and a label that documents the quilt. I signed it on the front.
Life is a Beautiful Symphony has been donated to the Atlanta Quilt Festival. It will be offered for sale at the Atlanta Quilt Festival vending booth at the opening reception August 3rd from noon - 4 p.m. at the Southwest Arts Center, 915 New Hope Road, South Fulton, GA. If it doesn’t sale, you can find it in the Atlanta Quilt Festival store.
