Quilters Gather Together

Quilters Gather Together

I started this quilt in a retreat with one of my quilt guilds the Welcome All Quilters. Our retreat was held at beautiful Vogel State Park in the north Georgia Mountains. All quilters made the same pattern which is by Cozy Quilt Designs. I chose Aboriginal and African prints for my quilt. The background has the words “quilters gather” written on it so “Quilters Gather Together” was born!

I pieced “Quilters Gather Together” on my Pfaff Passport sewing machine which I take to classes because it is small and light weight. My friend Maxine Moore quilted it on her long arm. She used a needle and thread quilting pattern to carry out the theme of the quilt.

“Quilters Gather Together” measures 47 x 66 inches. It makes a striking wallhanging because of the ethnic fabrics and the geometric pattern. The dominant color is green but you hardly notice it because of the other fabrics. The binding is a traditional African Kente fabric.

There is a hanging sleeve on the back to make it easy to hand. The fabric on the back is a green and yellow African print.

A label on the back documents the quilt. I signed it on the front
