Windy Day
“Windy Day” is the last quilt in my kaleidoscope series. It was created using the orphan block left over from “Frolicking in a Field of Flowers.” It measures 43 X 53 inches.
Because the kaleidoscope block seemed to be spinning, I imagined that it was blowing in the wind. That led me to name the quilt “Windy Day” and to include the gray fabrics that have an outdoor homestead motif.
After creating the top of the quilt, I lovingly hand quilted it using a big stitch done with pearle cotton in pick and dark red. I used the chicken scratch stitch to give the gray area the illusion of dirt.
I added painted buttons to add dimension to the quilt.
The back of the quilt is a pink batik. There is a hanging sleeve on the back for easy display and a label that documents the quilt.
I signed it on the front and added a charm that says, “Be a rainbow in someone’s cloud.”
