I invited you to join me on the the Atlanta Quilt Festival’s Road Trip to the High Museum of Art. If you failed to take may advice and missed it, it’s ok to beat yourself up. You missed a once in a lifetime opportunity. What an amazing day of learning, friendship and joy!
I traveled with 46 other quilters from the Southwest Arts Center to the High Museum of Art to see the Patterns in Abstraction — Black Quilts in the High’s Permanent Collection exhibit.
Our group was treated to a private presentation by the curator Katherine Jentleson during which we learned about the High’s plans for adding quilts to its collection.
I took pictures with my quilt A Star Among Stars and had time to see the Tyler Mitchell photography exhibit.
Lunch featured traditional southern food at the historic Mary Macs Tea Room. The peach cobbler was delicious and the fried green tomatoes were perfection.
After lunch Melvin, our very excellent bus driver from the Kingston Coach Lines, took us on a scenic tour through historic Atlanta that included Auburn Avenue, the Martin Luther King Center, Centennial Olympic Park, and the Atlanta University Center.
Baby Addison (now 6 weeks old) made the trip extra special. 🚌🚎👶🏽❤️🥰
