30 Days of 30 Red and White Quilts: I love learning new quilting techniques. Be Kind Kawandi was created using the technique Indian women of African descent use to create their quilts.
I am so excited that my solo exhibit of red and white quilts will entertain the world at the @quiltfestival’s International Quilt Festival in Houston, TX November 1- 5. The exhibit entitled Long Time Coming: A Retrospective of O.V. Brantley’s Red and White Quilts features red and white quilts I made over a 20-year period. They document my background growing up African-American in the segregated South, my professional career as a lawyer, and my time as a mother. The quilts also highlight my life as a member of Delta Sigma Theta sorority and my views on social justice issues of the day. The exhibit also showcases my collection of red and white fabrics acquired during extensive travels. If you are attending the Festival, please join me for a gallery talk.
None of the quilts are currently for sale, but prints are available for six of the quilts. 👧🏾🌅🖼🙏🏾
