Learning to Tell My Story

Fiber Artist Wendy Kendrick and ME! at the Atlanta Quilt Festival. Quilt in the background is by Melinda Rushing.

I took a class taught by Fiber Artis Wendy Kendrick at the Atlanta Quilt Festival. The class was designed to help quilters imagine their story and then to transfer that story to fabric. I enjoyed the class, but unfortunately I did not get too far on my story quilt because of other Atlanta Quilt Festival duties. However, Wendy definitely opened my eyes to a new way of thinking about my quilts.

Since I generally don't enjoy making portrait quilts, I decided to create my home town, circa 1960. You may actually see this as a finished quilt someday.

The very rough beginning of my story quilt.

It was a fun day.
