Quilt Travel! North Carolina Mountains

I have returned home from a four-day retreat with my quilt guild the Welcome All Quilters and the Metro Atlanta Contemporary Quilters. The retreat was held at The Mountain Retreat and Learning Center in Highland, NC, approximately a 2 1/2 drive from Atlanta. We were quilting at an elevation of 4000 feet and the mountain views were spectacular.

During the retreat I made progress on my Sensuous Secret Garden quilt. I finished Block 12 and started Block 13, the last of the center blocks. Once I finish Block 13, only the borders remain. I can almost see the light at he end of the tunnel, but not quite. 👀 The borders are also hand appliquéd, and they will take a lot of time.

In addition to our personal projects, The Welcome All Quilters made two group projects. We learned to paper piece by making part of a New York Beauty block, and we also made the African Queen block.

I made new friends, communed with nature and learned new things. Life is good.🙏🏾
