Screened Porch Christening

Creating a reason to celebrate.

My neighbor Connie and I officially christened my new screened porch last night. This is the place where I will enjoy creating Peaceful Porch Pieces, both real and imagined.

Connie — the best neighbor ever!

Connie and I have lived across the street from each other for over 20 years. She makes jewelry. I make quilts.

The perfect wine for a magical night.

It was a beautiful night to enjoy great Black Girl Magic wine and friendship. There was food, but somehow only the wine made its way into the pictures.😂🍷

A view of the entire project. I love the stone patio as much as the screened porch.

As for the porch, Atlanta Porch and Patio made my dreams come true. I did an earlier post of my before, during and after pictures. However, I still marvel at how invisible the screen is. I was not expecting that. Of course, since it is practically invisible, it does not show up in the pictures.

Green wicker, Tommy Bahama fabric, lots of pillows and Olivia Victoria’s bed underneath.

I bought the wicker furniture on Wayfair and Copeland’s Custom Upholstery made the cushions from the Tommy Bahama fabric I just had to have!

Cool dark wood dining table with stools that swing in and out.

I found the perfect dining table at World Market. I love the fact that the seats swing under the table when not in use.

Plant life makes my porch beautiful.

My plants are old and new, some purchased and some received as gifts. For me they add the finishing touch to my desire to have the porch melt into the landscape. Outside landscaping will happen later this fall.

Giving myself flowers — because I deserve it.

My followers know that I have a series of quilts named Give Yourself Flowers. The message is to be good to yourself. My porch is giving myself flowers on steroids, but I deserve it. My porch is a special place and for that I am deeply grateful.🙏🏾
