1 Day Until “Long Time Coming” Opens at the International Quilt Festival

Rosalind poses with her star. My entire quilting career started with Rosalind. That’s a post for another day.❤️

30 Days of 30 Red and White Quilts: My exhibit includes 20 friendship star quilts that hung from the ceiling during the premier exhibit. Each star quilt is named for a friend who adds joy to my quilt life.

I am so excited that my solo exhibit of red and white quilts will entertain the world at the @quiltfestival’s International Quilt Festival in Houston, TX November 1- 5. The exhibit entitled Long Time Coming: A Retrospective of O.V. Brantley’s Red and White Quilts features red and white quilts I made over a 20-year period plus 27 ceiling quilts. They document my background growing up African-American in the segregated South, my professional career as a lawyer, and my time as a mother. The quilts also highlight my life as a member of Delta Sigma Theta sorority and my views on social justice issues of the day. The exhibit also showcases my collection of red and white fabrics acquired during extensive travels.

Join me for a gallery talk at 11 a.m and 2 p.m. 11/2-11/4. Shown are 6 of my Friendship Star quilts.👧🏾🌅🖼🙏🏾
