Finally I have returned to my I Believe in Angels series. I like to keep my angels close so I have made many angel quilts over the years.
Since I continue to prepare for my solo exhibit of red and white quilts, I started with a red and white angel simply named I Believe in Red and White Angels.
She is created using fused appliqué and sewn with a blanket stitch. She is an explosion of many reds with a focus on an African red for the last border.
My friend Maxine Moore did a masterful job of carrying out the theme of the quilt with an angel motif quilted into the background of the quilt.
After adding binding, a hanging sleeve and a label, I embellished I Believe in Red and White Angels with gold angel and star charms.
I signed it on the front and added a charm that says “angels watching over me”.
My red and white quilt exhibit opens November 19, 2022 at the Emma Darnell Museum and Conference Center (Formerly the Aviation Community Cultural Center), 3900 Aviation Circle in Atlanta. I would be honored if you save the date and plan to see the exhibit.
