Introducing My New Quilt “Look Good. Feel Good. Do Good. #3”

Look Good. Feel Good. Do Good #3 is part of my new affirmation series. I believe that you do your best work (whatever that work is) when you look good and feel good. Each of the quilts in this series starts with a center panel of an African woman looking her best. Her dress inspires the color of each quilt, and I add the words “Look Good. Feel Good. Do Good” in my own handwriting. In this quilt, the woman is also shown in silhouette.
Look Good. Feel Good. Do Good #3 measures 29 X 29 inches and is primarily red and green. It includes African and domestic fabrics. Most African fabrics feature large prints, but this quilt also includes red shweshwe shweshwe, South African fabric that features small prints.
I quilted the quilt on my new Sashiko machine. It creates a stitch that mimics the look of hand quilting which I love. I quilted Look Good. Feel Good. Do Good. #3 in a curved pattern in red thread and then added straight lines to create a secondary quilting pattern. The big stitches become a design element.
Look Good. Feel Good. Do Good #3 is embellished with painted buttons, words, and a charm. The charm near my signature reads “Life is good”.
The back of the quilt is a red African fabric. There is a hanging sleeve on the back for easy display and a label that documents the quilt.
I signed it on the front. Look Good. Feel Good. Do Good #3 is unique and one-of-a-kind although it is part of a series.
