Finding your tribe is very important especially for Creatives. Surround yourself with people who believe in you and joyfully share your spirit. That is the inspiration behind Cherished Creative Community.

Cherished Creative Community starts with a digitally printed panel of the colorful houses purchased from a vendor at the International Quilt Festival. (I do not know the name of the artist who created the houses). I added borders to personalize the quilt, but the houses are the star of the show.

To further carry out the message of the quilt, I added a charm to each house that suggest the spirits you may find in a cherished creative community. Words include “inspire”, “trust”, “love”, “laugh”, “dream”, “family”, “wish”,”hope”, and “believe”. Two “explore” charms are included at the bottom of the quilt because that’s what Creatives do. I added an angel charm at the top of the quilt because I believe in angels. The charm reads “Angels watching over me.”

I added borders that make the dimensions of the Cherished Creative Community 55 X 61 inches. My friend Maxine Moore quilted it on her long arm.

The fabric on the back of the quilt is a purple and yellow African print. I added a hanging sleeve for easy display and a label that documents the quilt.

I signed it on the front and added a charm that says “Life is Good”.

Remember, find your tribe!
