Deltas Visit My Long Time Coming Exhibit at the International Quilt Festival

Sorors of Delta Sigma theta are drawn to red and white like a moth to a flame, so it was no surprise to me that many of my sorors showed up at my solo exhibit of red and white quilts at the International Quilt Festival in Houston, TX November 1 -5. Some were old friends, and others were complete strangers.

My initiation into the charter Lambda Theta chapter of Delta Sigma Theta sorority at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville started my love affair with red and white. Once I became a quilter, it was only natural that I would make red and white quilts.

The oldest quilt in my Long Time Coming exhibit is Forever Bound By Delta which was completed in 2001. It is a traditional Irish chain quilt. After making that first red and white quilt, I continued to make red and white quilts. That is how I ended up with an exhibit that is a 20 year retrospective of my red and white quilts. There are 47 quilts in the exhibit!

My sorors enjoyed the exhibit, and we enjoyed our moment of sisterhood.
