The Heart of Africa is the 7th quilt in what has turned into my About Africa series. First I made The Joys of Africa. I liked it so much I made The Beauty of Africa, The Drum Beat of Africa, The Adventures of Africa, The Romance of Africa, The Hope of Africa and now The Heart of Africa. I have so much African fabric, I may never stop!
Like the other quilts in the series, The Heart of Africa is a quilted wallhanging composed of a wide variety of African fabrics. It gets its name from the red heart blocks. It measures 50 x 58 inches.
I pieced it on my Janome sewing machine, and Maxine Moore machine quilted it.
The back of the quilt features a red and white fabric with a row of elephants. There is a hanging sleeve on the back for easy display and a label that documents the quilt. After the quilt was bound and labeled, I signed it on the front.
This quilt is one-of-a-kind.
